The Story so far...
13 years ago, a second war between the Titans of old and the gods of Olympus was waged. It raged on for 3 years before Perseus Jackson, a son of Poseidon, and the brave demigods of Camp Half-Blood helped end the war and send the Titans back to their prisons deep in the pits of Tartarus. As a reward for his bravery in defending Olympus, the gods granted Percy one wish, and rather than taking the expected wish of becoming an immortal god, he made all of the gods of Olympus swear upon the River Styx that they would claim all of their demigod children by the age of 13. Neither Percy nor Camp Half-Blood was really prepared for the massive influx of demigods to the safety of the Camp's magical borders.
For 3 years the camp tried to cope with the massive numbers, but found that there just wasn't enough space and personnel to go around. A decision was made to expand the Camp, but even that didn't seem to be enough. Far too many of the newfound campers had nowhere else to go and therefore, lived at the Camp all-year round. This put an even further strain upon the Camp's already limited resources. After a meeting of the Olympian Council, a new course of action was decided upon. A massive new property was purchased, and upon which, was founded the Half-Blood Academy.
Once the Academy was established, it was decided that Camp Half-Blood would continue as it always had with Mr. D (Dionysus) and Chiron in charge. The gods sought out help to run the new Academy from an ancient sea god who had little left to do and was in danger of fading away forever. Bored with his weakening state, the ancient sea god, Pontos, agreed to serve as the Academy's headmaster on the condition that the small portion of the Long Island Sound which bordered the Academy, would be allocated as his personal domain. Reluctantly, Poseidon, the Olympian god of the Sea, consented, and Pontos became the Academy's Headmaster.
Over the next five years the Academy grew and thrived, as did the Camp. Many a bored minor god and goddess offered their services in training and teaching these young demigods for short periods of time.
A year later something strange happened, a child came to the Academy who wasn't a demigod at all, but the offspring of a mortal and a monster. The child had no control over its powers and posed a threat not only to the mortals around it, but to any demigod it came across as well.
After consulting with the Olympian Council, Pontos decided that the Academy would not only be open to demigods, but also with half-monsters, for both the safety of mortals and demigods alike.
Following the decision, a large migration of half-monsters found their way to the Academy, where they tried to blend in with the demigods, but instead were often shunned. A new wing of dormitories and residences were created for the half-monster children to give them some place of refuge with enchantments placed over every door that made it impossible for any outsider, save a god, from entering the room without an invitation.
A few months later, another strange child with amazing and dangerous powers came to the Academy's doorstep, and it was discovered that the child was a demititan. The offspring of a Titan and a mortal, conceived during that short 3 year period when a number of Titans were free to roam the earth.
At first the Olympians wanted the child put to death, but Pontos argued the case that if these demititans were trained properly, they could be made valuable allies, should their parents begin to stir and cause problems again. The council was split on its decision until Hermes casted his vote in favor of training the demititans quoting the phrase, "Keep your friends close, your enemies even closer." With that, a choice was made, and a third wing was added to the Academy.
In a way of killing two birds with one stone, Zeus ordered the titan Prometheus to go to the Academy and act as the Head of House and Liason for the Titans and demititans. To maintain the balance of power, he sent Persephone to act as the Head of House and Liason for the Olympians and demigods along with Briares to act as the Head of House and Liason for the Monsters and half-monsters. Pontos was permitted to keep his stewardship over the school as Headmaster.
Now for the first time in known history, demigods, demititans, and half-monsters are living and working together. Can the maintain the peace and work for the good of humanity? Or will they turn on each other igniting a war to rival all other wars? Time will only tell as they live and learn at...
