Sidney Kasal
Play by: Jensen Ackles
Name: Sidney Kasal
Student or staff: Staff
Position: Showjumping instructor
Age: 23
Gender: male
Nationality: American
Sexuality: straight
Physical Appearance: Sidney is attractive, in a kind of boy-next-door sort of way. He doesn't get looks on the street, but there's no doubt he is quite handsome. He is careful to the point of obsession about his hair, and spends quite a lot of time on it in the mornings. Other than that, Sid isn't exactly the best-groomed person around. He doesn't shave every day, and isn't good at it when he does. This isn't terribly gross, because his facial hair doesn't grow too quickly, but still...
Sidney is tall compared to the rest of his family, but inherited his father's muscular build. Before he started riding, he exercised every day to keep it. Now, he has found that riding is enough of a workout on its own. He has developed flatter muscles, as opposed to the huge bodybuilder type.
Personality: Sidney is quite possibly the most approachable person you will ever meet. He kind of attracts people; if you're in a room with ten others, he is the one you talk to first. He doesn't mind doing all the talking, and will not shut up until you interrupt him. Other than that, he is easygoing and likes parties better than working ('We only work when we need the money,' anyone?). Sidney is someone who needs human contact; he does better when surrounded by friends. He didn't go long without a girlfriend in high school, in stark opposition to his brother, Victor.
History: The eldest child of Cynthia and Derek Kasal, Sidney has always been the leader of the pack. When Victor arrived a year later, Sidney was the one getting him into trouble, teaching him (or, more recently, being taught), and making friends. The two became inseparable, until Valerie came along. She was adopted when Cynthia found out she couldn't have any more children. Sidney tried to care for her the way he had Victor, but she didn't really like her oldest brother.
The first four years of Valerie's life passed quietly. Sidney attended school, hated it, and tried to get out of it. His sister was four when she announced that she wanted a pony. Their parents, having only boys, allowed her to take lessons. They thought this would pass quickly and easily. However, the entire family was sucked into Val's chosen sport. Sidney didn't want to go to her lessons or anything; he was sucked in.
When Sid got to middle school, he wanted to do everything. Unfortunately, sixth graders were only allowed to run cross country. This was far from his dream of football, but Sidney joined the team anyways. The course ran past Valerie's stable, and every time the team ran past it, Sidney would point out Val to his teammates.
When Sidney graduated to seventh grade, he tried out for the football team and made it. He loved the sport, especially because he was the star quarterback. No one told him this was because the first-string quarterback was injured and couldn't go out for the team; he wasn't actually amazing. However, he did get mentioned on the announcements after every game, and he attracted girls accordingly.
Eighth grade passed in a blur; with the real quarterback's arm healed, Sidney was back on the bench for most of the games. He ran track in spring, but never made it to competition. Valerie continued to advance until Sidney was a sophomore in high school. It was on the first day of school when she was thrown from her horse and broke her ribs. She never rode again.
Sidney, however, was enthralled when he finally started listening to her stories about school. It seemed that she was popular just because she rode. Sidney couldn't claim anything like that; his only foray into the world of sports was his stint as quarterback in seventh grade. He wanted the instant fame, so he took Valerie's unused lessons. Victor ridiculed him endlessly for this.
Like Val, Sidney was instantly popular with the girls. They still harbored hidden loves for horses, and his endless stories captured their attention. He dated the prettiest girls, which was basically the only thing that mattered to him.
However, he never picked it up the way Val did. He had to work, and work he did. Through his junior and senior years, Sidney had endless lessons and work. His grades fluctuated depending on what he was working on. His parents didn't care much; they had their academic child in Victor.
Sidney graduated high school with no honors and no... well, not really anything. He was, however, regarded as the best rider in his lesson group, which wasn't true. Sidney had to think and practice; there were girls who could sit on an unfamiliar horse and make it look perfect, but they never practiced the way he did.
Sidney's years from eighteen to twenty were completely uneventful, except for brief stints taken off from riding to party. Yeah, he's a rebel. When he was twenty two, however, the Kasals moved to Huron to get away from the cold in Indiana. Sidney wasn't a fan of moving with his family, however, and so he got a job here at Hardline.
Get ready for awesome.
